Saturday 11th November 2017

The 11th November is the 5th Anniversary of the Death of Sir Rex Hunt, Governor of the Falklands Islands in 1982 during the Invasion. Every Year we meet up in Hutton Rudby Near Yarm, North Yorkshire to Pay our Respects and Lay tributes to Sir Rex at His Graveside.

We usually Meet up first in The Bay Horse Pub which was his Local around 1200 hrs, the Pub does excellent lunchtime meals. then we head down to the Parish Church, 5 minute walk, so we can Lay Tributes, pay respects and salute Sir Rex at 1400 hrs.

All welcome to attend, it isn't an official Service just us paying our own respects to a very good friend, and also to someone who supported SAMA 82, and helped us Financially to set the Association up 20 Years ago.

Remembrance Parade 2017
Sunday 12th November

If you are a veteran intending to march at the Cenotaph in November this year, you must apply for your place by Friday 30th June.  You can either email the SAMA office or ring them – 01495 741592 The RBL will not accept names after this date.





Starting at 11am and open to the public. Senior representatives from the Scottish Government, Edinburgh City and the Military, along with associations and organisations, will lay wreaths at the Stone of Remembrance and attend the morning service in St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh.

At 10am the Veterans Detachment, including Standard Bearers will parade and form up on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle. At 1032 the Veterans Detachment, led by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland will step off and march to the Stone of Remembrance.

All are invited to the service in St. Giles' Cathedral immediately after the ceremony.

Armistice Day Service in the Garden of Remembrance, Princes Street Gardens at the Sir Walter Scott Monument.

Friday 10th November 2017

There will be an Armistice Service on Friday 10th November at 11:30 followed by a Veterans Lunch.

This year's Veterans Lunch is open to those from more recent conflicts such as the Falklands conflict of 1982.

Saturday 4th NOVEMBER

In addition to the above events, Dundee (The City of Discovery) is holding the Royal British Legion Annual Festival of Remembrance on Saturday 4th November at the Caird Hall.

This year there is a packed programme which includes Legion Scotland Sweetheart - Amy Hawthorn’s Dame Vera Lynn Tribute, The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, the Pipes and Drums of 7SCOTS and a Parcel O’ Rogues culminating in the Act of Remembrance.

HMS Cardiff Reunion
1st and 2nd September 2017


A reunion will be held on the 1st and 2nd September 2017 for all that served on D108 throughout her commission or any of the other HMS Cardiff's.
Meet at the Owain Glyndwr pub opposite Cardiff castle on on Friday 1st September 2017 1600-1700.
All are welcome as it would be lovely to see anyone who served on D108 throughout her commission or any of the other HMS Cardiff ships.

Wreath of Respect Event, Cardiff

18th June 2017


400 bikers will ascend on our Falklands Rock Memorial in Alexander Gardens Cardiff to lay Wreaths and Remembrance Crosses in memory of the 255 who lost their lives during the conflict.  For further details please contact SAMA Wales.

The Boscombe Down Aviation Museum will be holding a Remembrance Service for the Falklands Conflict on Saturday 17th June.

Meet for 11.00 hrs 

Coffee/Teas will be served at 11.15hrs-11.30hrs

Service starts at 11.55 hrs

Light buffet at 12.30hrs


The background for the service will be a Sea Harrier, which they house as part of their collection

Service of Remembrance at Stowmarket 
Friday 16th June 2017

​To mark the 35th anniversary of the ending of the Falklands conflict, a service of remembrance will be held at the church of St. Peter and St. Mary's, Stowmarket in Suffolk at 6.00pm on Friday 16th June 2017. The service will be followed by a wreath laying at the town's memorial gates, before guests retire to the Royal British Legion Club, Stowmarket for refreshments.  Standards are welcome. Musical Evening with the HM Royal Marine Band - Plymouth

A musical evening with the HM Royal Marine Band will take place at St Andrews Church, Plymouth on Wednesday 14th June.
This service will commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Falklands Islands
Doors open 6.30pm - Service starts at 7.30pm
The evening will conclude with a Drumhead Ceremony.

35th Anniversary Service - Holy Trinity Church, Hull

A Service will be held at holy Trinity Church, Hull on Sunday 28th May 2017 to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Falklands.

The Service will start 2.00pm followed by a Parade to the Royal Navy & Merchant Navy Memorial at Hull Pier, which will include a Wreath laying ceremony.

There will be a Service of Remembrance to mark the 35th anniversary of the Falklands conflict at Sunderland Cenotaph commencing 11.30am.

All are welcome including standards.

20th AGM & Reunion Weekend 2017

The 20th AGM and Gala Dinner will be held at the Tillington Hall Hotel, Stafford on Saturday the 1st of April 2017.

Dress Code for the Gala Dinner is:-
Gents: - Jacket/Blazer/Lounge Suit and Tie.
Ladies: - Cocktail Dress, Trouser Suit or Blouse and Trousers.
Miniature Medals may be worn.
Dinner Jackets and Posh Frocks may be worn if preferred.

If you haven't got a jacket gents then just come anyway in shirt and tie, it is more important to be there.
After the continued excellent service from Isle-of-Wight Tours Limited, we are again using Shirley Winn and her team for the organisation of the weekends AGM and Gala Dinner.
